Program Summary & Location
UW-Eau Claire is partnered with EducatorsAbroad Student Teaching (EAST) program. EAST offers qualified students the opportunity to student teach in 52 countries located in every region of the world: Africa; Asia; Europe; the Middle East, and Central and South America. To date, UW-Eau Claire students have taught in Australia, Cameroon, Chile, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, India, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Peru, South Africa, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.
This program is only offered in the spring semester due to new regulations with the edTPA and calendar constraints. On this program, you will complete eight weeks of student teaching in Wisconsin and ten weeks abroad. The types of schools where you would be teaching vary by country; you may be at a public, private, international, American, or boarding school. In all cases, the language of instruction is English.
Spring placements are available worldwide since most schools are in session from February to June/July. Australia, Egypt, India and New Zealand are excellent options. Other good spring countries include Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, and Scotland.

Housing & Meals
Many types of housing, including home stays, are available. Cooperating schools will advise and assist you in finding housing. However, you are ultimately responsible for arranging your own accommodations. This process may sound intimidating, but EAST indicates that past students have not had problems locating housing.
