Program Summary & Location

germany photoUW-Eau Claire and Phillips-Universität Marburg (Uni Marburg) have an exciting new exchange and study abroad agreement with three tracks for UW-Eau Claire students. Depending on the track you choose, you can study intensive German language and culture in the International German Studies Program (IGSP), take an intensive German course along with a limited selection of regular university classes through the International Undergraduate Studies Program (IUSP) or enroll as an exchange student taking only regular university classes.

Located near the center of Germany, about an hour north of Frankfurt by train, Marburg is both a thoroughly old and thoroughly modern city.  Founded around 1140, with a perfectly preserved medieval and Renaissance Altstadt (old city center),  Marburg is culturally and economically vibrant. In addition, Uni Marburg has been welcoming international students for over 500 years!

Housing & Meals

eagles nest germanyYou will live in a single room in a University residence hall. There are bathrooms, showers, and a kitchen on each floor. Inexpensive meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are available in the university cafeteria ("Mensa"), or you can shop and cook for yourself. The resident hall kitchen tends to be a general gathering place for everyone on the floor, so if you cook for yourself, you'll have the chance to meet other students in a small setting.
