Lima, Peru Summer Academics


To apply, you must be a currently enrolled, degree-seeking, undergraduate UW-Eau Claire student. You need to be in good-academic, conduct and financial standing. You also need to have a cumulative GPA of 2.5. You must maintain enrollment and continue to meet the academic standing and GPA requirements the semester prior to departure. You may apply as a first year student, but must have at least sophomore standing by the time the program begins. Students with no previous formal study of Spanish are welcome to apply; however, some Field School Program courses may have a Spanish language pre-requisites. All applicants are encouraged to have at least a basic knowledge of Spanish (from high school or other experiences) in order to function in the host environment.

Courses & UW-Eau Claire Equivalencies

Students choose one of the Field School Program courses. Course information for summer 2018 will be available in late November/early December.  To learn what was offered in summer 2017, please visit the PUCP Field School Program web site.  There is no guarantee the same courses will be offered for summer 2018.  Course equivalencies are in the process of being established.  

Liberal Education/General Education Requirements

For students in catalog years 2016-17 and later, this program can fulfill an Integrate Learning (I1) requirement upon completion of the integrated learning assignments while abroad. Please contact your study abroad coordinator for more details. 

For students in catalog years through 2015-16, three credits of foreign culture can be waived upon successful program completion of field courses taught fully or partially in English. Six credits of foreign culture can be waived upon successful completion of the Spanish Language and Peruvian Culture Field Course. The requirement is not automatically applied: please email Degree Review at after completion of your program to update your degree audit. (Students earning a B.A., B.F.A., or B.M. degree in the College of Arts and Sciences cannot use study abroad to fulfill their foreign language/foreign culture requirements. See the university catalog for details.). 

Language Immersion Requirement

All Spanish and Latin American Studies majors and minors in any of the emphases offered must complete an appropriate period of language immersion in residence in a country where the language is spoken. This program does NOT meet the language immersion requirement. If you have questions about the requirement or how you might meet the requirement, please contact Languages or Latin American Studies.

Academic Calendar

Four-week courses typically run from the last week in June to the last week in July. Three-week courses typically run from the last week in June to the third week in July. Exact dates are available on the PUCP Field School Program web site.
