Eligibility

To apply, you must be a currently enrolled, degree-seeking, undergraduate UW-Eau Claire student. You need to be in good-academic, conduct and financial standing. You also need to have a cumulative GPA of 2.5. You must maintain enrollment and continue to meet the academic standing and GPA requirements the semester prior to departure. You may apply as a first year student, but must have at least sophomore standing by the time the program begins. Students with no previous formal study of Spanish are welcome to apply; however, some Field School Program courses may have a Spanish language pre-requisites. All applicants are encouraged to have at least a basic knowledge of Spanish (from high school or other experiences) in order to function in the host environment.

Courses & UW-Eau Claire Equivalencies

Students choose one of the Field School Program courses. Course information for summer 2018 will be available in late November/early December.  To learn what was offered in summer 2017, please visit the PUCP Field School Program web site.  There is no guarantee the same courses will be offered for summer 2018.  Course equivalencies are in the process of being established.  

Liberal Education Requirements

If you are in catalog year 2016-2017 or later, you can fulfill an Integrative Learning (I1) requirement through study abroad. You will opt in after being accepted to your program and must complete a series of assignments before, during and after your time abroad. Talk with your academic advisor about whether you need to complete an I1 requirement through study abroad. You must complete the first assignments prior to going abroad; retroactive enrollment is not allowed.

Language Immersion Requirement

All Spanish and Latin American Studies majors and minors in any of the emphases offered must complete an appropriate period of language immersion in residence in a country where the language is spoken. This program does NOT meet the language immersion requirement. If you have questions about the requirement or how you might meet the requirement, please contact Languages or Latin American Studies.

Academic Calendar

Four-week courses typically run from the last week in June to the last week in July. Three-week courses typically run from the last week in June to the third week in July. Exact dates are available on the PUCP Field School Program web site.
