Level of Support: Kansai Gaidai University, Hirakata City, Japan
On-Site Staff:International Office Staff at Kansai Gaidai University offer support services to international students during their time abroad. Examples of these services include an airport pickup service, assisting students with securing housing in either a dormitory or with a host family, and organizing an orientation upon arrival. Kansai Gaidai also offers a speaking buddy program in which you are paired with a Japanese student to practice your Japanese and they practice their English.
Excursions will be offered through various classes for an additional fee. In addition, many international students tend to join student organizations that include travel around Japan. Any fees associated with that, are at an additional cost to the student.
Health & Disability Resources:Kansai Gaidai has an on-campus first aid center offering treatment for minor injuries. If you are seriously hurt, the International Office staff can assist you in locating and visiting a local health care facility. The university will be offering psychological counseling, in English, starting in fall 2018. An experienced, US trained, native English-speaking professional counselor will be on campus on Mondays and on call at other times.
While Kansai Gaidai will do their best to accommodate any disabilities, services cannot be guaranteed or may be different than what you are used to in the United States. Please contact the Study Abroad Coordinator to begin exploring what services might be available to you.
More Information:If you still have questions on level of support, you can contact the Study Abroad Coordinator, Jenna Krosch (firstname.lastname@example.org)
