Program Summary & Location
Spend summer, fall, spring, or the academic year in Thessaloniki, Greece! The summer option is our most recent addition to this program and we are excited to send students over the
summer months! Your host in Greece is the American College Thessaloniki (ACT), a Greek university where you will take classes with Greek and other international students. ACT is known for its strong business offerings. Class sizes are small, and classes are very interactive. To learn more, see ACT's site
Thessaloniki, population 1 million, is located in northern Greece. The city was founded in 315 BC on a prehistoric settlement dating back to 2300 BC, making it one of the oldest cities in Europe. The city is named after Alexander the Great's sister. With a modern seafront, Thessaloniki is a Mediterranean city that has also preserved the vestiges of its Roman and Byzantine history. It is the second largest city in Greece and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Today, Thessaloniki has a very active cultural life, as well as being an important economic, industrial, and commercial center. There is a large student population in the city--literally one in every ten pedestrians is a university student.
