Program Summary & Location
UW-Eau Claire students have been studying at Harlaxton for more than 20 years! Each semester, Harlaxton College is home to roughly 150 students from the University of Evansville,
Indiana and other U.S. partner colleges and universities. You will take a 6-credit British Studies class from British professors, as well as other courses from the U.S. faculty from partner universities, often including UW-Eau Claire. Students in a variety of disciplines can earn liberal education, and sometimes major or minor, credits at Harlaxton. In addition, nursing majors
in the fall semester of their senior year can study for that semester in Harlaxton. There are also Honors options
, and a number of biology
classes now offered!
New beginning in Summer 2018
, UW-Eau Claire will also send students to Harlaxton's summer session. You will take three or six credits during this five-week "mini-Harlaxton" experience. Dr. Jason Spraitz from the UW-Eau Claire Criminal Justice program will teach during the summer term.
Harlaxton College consists of a 100-room Victorian manor house, the adjoining Carriage House, and small gymnasium. Located on the edge of Harlaxton village, two miles outside of Grantham, the College is set amidst the green pastures and rolling hills typical of the English midlands. Nottingham, the nearest city, is about 20 miles away. A convenient rail network provides easy access to other parts of Great Britain, making trips all over the country possible. Housing & Meals
You will share double or triple rooms in Harlaxton Manor and the adjoining Carriage House. Meals are served cafeteria-style in the Dining Hall. There are also laundry facilities, a "telly"
lounge with VCR/DVD, a general store in the Manor, and campus-wide wireless access.
