Application Process

Who Can Apply

U.S. citizens who will have completed at least a bachelor’s degree by the beginning of grant period are eligible to apply.  Find detailed eligibility requirements on the Fulbright website.

How to Apply

The online application will open at the end of March 2017; however, you can familiarize yourself with the application process at any time. See the Applicants tab of the Fulbright website to get started.  This is a nation-wide competition. You will need to work on your application during spring semester and over the summer in order to write a competitive application.

When to Apply

In most cases, you will start the application during your junior year. The 2017-2018 competition will open at the end of March 2017!
  • If you are graduating in December 2017 or May 2018, you can apply.
  • For some countries in the Southern Hemisphere, December 2018 grads are also eligible. 
  • Recent graduates are also welcome to apply through UW-Eau Claire.
The UW-Eau Claire campus deadline is September 25, 2017.  Campus interviews will be held the following two weeks.
