Photo Contest

Our annual study abroad photo contest has moved to fall semester and is closed at this time!

Themes for fall 2018 are:
Once in a lifetime moment: what took your breath away? What made you say, "this is the most amazing thing I've seen/done/experienced!" or "this is a once in a lifetime moment..." Photos can range from landscapes to landmarks to new foods to new places discovered off the beaten path. The options are endless!

Friends all over the world: 2 or more people are needed in these photos. They can be fellow #blugoldsabroad or new friends you made while abroad. We want to see who you met and the memories you made together. (We do ask that you let your friends know you're submitting a photo so they're not surprised if they see themselves on social media or in promos.)

Must be currently enrolled or alum of a UWEC sponsored study abroad program (International Fellow Participants, Intercultural International Immersion participants are eligible as well).

If you've entered a past contest, you are more than welcome to submit different photos to this one.

  • Photo(s) must relate to the themes
  • You can submit TWO photos per category but do not have to submit to each category.
  • Submitted photos must be of high quality 3- 6MB+ and at least 8 megapixels or better. Photos that have been edited with filters do not have the best resolution and will look bad when printed.
  • Keep photo content appropriate – do not submit photos that feature excessive alcohol, any drugs or related paraphernalia, or sexual content. If you’re not sure, err on the side of caution.
  • Use photos that belong to you! We understand that you may not have necessarily taken a photo that has you in it, but we want you to be the owner of the photo (i.e. it was taken with your phone/camera). We just don't want you stealing a photo that belongs to a friend.
  • No Instagram or Snapchat photos – sorry the quality is not good and we want these to look great if printed
  • All individuals in the photo must consent to the submission of the photo.
  • Photos should be interesting, compelling, and awe-inspiring and evoke emotion in the viewer.
