Level of Support: Peru Faculty-Led Immersion

On-Site Resources:

This is a faculty-led immersion program, which means you will travel with 10-12 other UW-Eau Claire students and 2 UW-Eau Claire faculty/staff. The summer 2019 program will be led by Dr. Eric Torres (Education Studies) and Dr. Scott Clark (Geology-Science Teacher Education). They will be your first step for any on-site support you need.

Additionally, you will be studying, eating, working, playing and co-teaching with Peruvian peers, and even living in very close quarters with Peruvian students during the segment in Chaclacayo. The expectation is to have as much time together as possible sharing structured and unstructured activities so that they can learn how to capture the nuances of the language and attain cultural currency.

Health & Disability Resources:

The program is based at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), the leading higher education institution in Peru and is ranked within the top ten in Latin America. PUCP has health facilities on campus, and the city of Lima also has quality English-speaking doctors or hospitals that Dr. Eric Torres and local partners can recommend.
